Anita Sarkeesian was born in Canada, but was raised in the US. She has worked as media critic since. Feminist Frequency is a website which hosts video and commentary looking at the portrayals of female characters in popular media and popular. Anita Sarkeesian has been a blogger, critic of the media and award-winning feminist for over a decade. Feminist Frequency is an educational non-profit website that explores the representations of females in narratives from popular culture. Committed to deconstructing the stereotypes that are associated with females in pop culture, she seeks to bring attention to harassment targeted at women and the other marginalized groups of people in the online environment. Sarkeesian is a graduate in the field of political and social thought from York University. As a public speaker, she is well-known and has spoken at TEDxWomenXOXO and the United Nations Broadband Working Group. Interested in issues concerning gender identities and feminisms from the age of 7, she started her own website Feminist Frequency in 2009, while studying at the university. She was a young woman with a dream to develop an online series to examine the gender roles in games. In the end, she ended up being the target of cyber-bullying. But the assault did be a deterrent, but it made her more determined as a feminist critic of media. As a result of the many achievements she's made for feminist movements, she has been recognized with numerous awards. Anita Sarkeesian, a media critic, has been awarded numerous awards and created Feminist Frequency as an educational organization that focuses on the way women are depicted in popular culture narratives.
